ICI Names Jim Hart Political Affairs Officer

Veteran Hill Chief of Staff to Manage Institute’s Political Program

Washington, DC, December 8, 2006 – The Investment Company Institute today announced that James R. Hart has been named Political Affairs Officer. He will report to the Institute’s Chief Government Affairs Officer, Daniel F. C. Crowley.

Hart, who has worked on Capitol Hill for more than 30 years, will represent the Institute before federal government officials and manage the Institute’s political program, including the Political Action Committee (ICI PAC). Additionally, he will work to reinforce the Institute’s relationships with other key constituents on Capitol Hill, in the Administration, at other trade associations, and at leading think tanks. Hart also will serve as the primary liaison to the senior staff at the congressional campaign committees.

“Jim’s experience on Capitol Hill, and the relationships he has built over the past three decades, will be tremendous assets to the Institute as we move forward with our public policy agenda,” said Crowley.

“We are fortunate to have someone with such tremendous knowledge of national politics join us in this important role, and we are very pleased to have him join the government affairs team,” added ICI President Paul Schott Stevens.

Hart most recently served as Chief of Staff to Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY). He previously served as Chief of Staff to Rep. Jim Maloney (D-CT) and Rep. Bart Stupack (D-MI), and as Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Rep. Doug Applegate (D-OH).

Hart received his bachelor’s degree in education, with a minor in social studies and political science, from West Liberty State College in West Virginia. He also went on to study public administration at The George Washington University.
